Obituary

Death of Rev. W. Chaseling—General regret and astonishment was expressed in Hinton this morning when it was heard that the Rev. W. Chaseling, Baptist minister at that village, had succumbed to that dread disease—typhoid fever. We stated on Wednesday last that there were a number of cases of this disease at Hinton, and that the rev. gentleman was one of the worst sufferers, but that his recovery might be hoped for. However, Mr. Chaseling breathed his last at six o'clock this morning, and was buried this afternoon. The Rev. Mr. Chaseling succeeded the Rev. C. Stark to the charge of the Hinton church, which was Mr. Chaseling's first appointment in the ministry. On August 21 a tea meeting was held at Hinton to welcome the rev. gentleman to his charge, and a large number of fellow clergymen attended and expressed the hope that Rev. Mr. Chaseling's ministrations would be crowned with success. As may be imagined considerable sorrow and regret is felt, not only by the members of his church, but by the whole townspeople and all who knew the gentleman.
