William LeRoy Emmet was born 10 July 1859 in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York, United States to William Jenkins Emmet (1826-1905) and Julia Colt Pierson (1829-1908) and died 26 September 1941 Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States of unspecified causes.
He was an accomplished engineer employed by General Electric. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, he was a pioneer in the areas of current electricity and power generation, best known for his work with steam turbines, mercury vapor, and electric ship propulsion.
