William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Devonshire, Duke of Devonshire, Marquis of Hartington, Earl of Devonshire, was born 25 January 1640 to William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire (1617-1684) and Elizabeth Cecil (1619-1689) and died 18 August 1707 Picadilly Devonshire House, London, Greater London, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. He married Mary Butler (1646-1710) 26 October 1662 in County Tipperary, Ireland.
