William Boyton was born 3 December 1809 in Clavering, Essex, England, United Kingdom to John M Boyton (1782-1866) and Ann Miller (1783-1850) and died 4 February 1874 Gundagai, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Emma Wombwell (1812-1845) 1 December 1830 in Langley, Essex, England, United Kingdom. He married Emma Abrahams (1825-1888) 29 May 1847 in Clavering, Essex, England, United Kingdom.

William Boyton (1809-1874) arrived in Australia in 1851 on board the Sarah along with his second wife, Emma Abrahams and children from his first marriage to Emma Wombwell including Wiiliam, Charles, Harriet, Peter and Jabez. Several other children remained in the UK (information from NSW Records Assisted Immigrants). Emma Wombwell died around 1840 and is buried in Clavering, Essex, England.

William and Emma Abrahams had children, David, John, Mary, Thomas and Maria while living in Campbelltown.

After a period working in the Campbelltown area west of Sydney, the family moved in the 1860s to take up selections of land in and around Nangus about 20 kms from Gundagai. It is thought that the selections were made under the Roberston Land Act as the acerages match those outlined in the act.

After William's death in 1874, Emma moved to Wagga Wagga with most of the family leaving Peter and Jabez in Nagus to farm. William was thought to be buried on his property in Nangus but this cannot be confirmed. Records show that he was buried at Clarendon in Nangus. Clarendon has been identified as the area behind St Pauls Church in Nangus. It is known that prior to the church in Nangus being opened in 1878, the area behind the church was used as a burial ground with quite a number of graves still being visible in the 1930s and 40s. The cemetery in Nangus was consecrated after the church.

Emma died in Wagga Wagga in 1888.
