William Brown was born 31 January 1872 in 466 St Vincent Street, Anderston, Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom (Lanarkshire) to William John Blair Brown (1844-1923) and Margaret Aberdein (1844-1903) and died 18 June 1944 45 Haddington Gardens, Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom of Cerebral arterio-sclerosis. He married Margaret Logan (1875-1963) 3 September 1900 in Albertbridge Congregational Church, 58 Beechfield Street, Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.
William Blair Brown was born on 31 January 1872 in 466 St Vincent Street, Anderston, Glasgow, son of William John Blair Brown, an iron moulder in the shipbuilding industry, and his wife Margaret, née Aberdein.
The family lived in: 13 Belgrave Street, Glasgow, in 1874; 2 Clyde Place, Whiteinch, Partick, in 1876; 1 Clyde Place, Whiteinch, Partick in 1878; and 83 Govan Road, Govan, Glasgow, in 1880. William attended Whiteinch Public School in Govan.
By 1883 the family had moved to Belfast, living at 4 Thompson Street. In 1887 William was indentured as an apprentice lithographic printer with David Allen & Sons. The apprenticeship was for seven years, and he followed the trade for the rest of his working life.
On 3 September 1900 he married Margaret Logan at Albertbridge Congregational Church. His address at that time was 58 Beechfield Street. In the 1901 census, William and Margaret were living at 43 Beechfield Street. Their first child, a daughter, Wilhelmina (Ina), was born on 4 February 1902. A second, Elizabeth (Lila), was born on 5 August 1907, by which time the family was living at 27 Rochester Street. A son, John (Jack), followed on 15 October 1913. By 1927 the family had moved to 45 Haddington Gardens.

Death and burial
William died of cerebral arterio-sclerosis at 45 Haddington Gardens on 18 June 1944. He was buried at Dundonald Cemetery two days later. His will was proved on 9 November, leaving all his effects, worth £1803 12s 2d, to his widow Margaret.
