This is a modern version of the Celtic Knot, thought by some to be representative of the interweaving of marriage relationships and the Celtic idea of peacemaking through kin exchange.

Multiple spouses[]

Hi! Apologies for not checking the help desk more often.

I've given a bit of an answer to your question on Forum:Adding Second Spouse. Past my bedtime, so don't ask me for more tonight. User:rtol is probably lurking somewhere if you need more help. He's in the Ireland timezone, I think. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 14:06, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

People with the same name[]

Adding a birth year to the page name (as recommended on several pages and illustrated on the standard input form) reduces the chance of duplication by over 99.5%. To change a page name, don't delete and start again: use "Move", because it's quicker and it preserves the page history.

Keep plugging away there! — Robin Patterson (Talk) 02:01, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

I had a look at that fellow who had "1810" in his pagename. Clearly it should have been "1910". Didn't you see that? Anyway, I changed him and a few others and restored him to his parents and created more sensor pages etc. So you now get handy tables such as William Castle Nelson (1823-1885)/descendants with very little extra work. And there's a Hugh Johnston page. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 04:34, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Welcome back![]

But please don't create more pages for individuals without adding at least a birth or death year if available. It makes more work for you and others. Robin Patterson (Talk) 04:39, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

On my talk page you said, under the heading "New" Familypedia:

Is there any plan to provide templates so as to more easily add/edit information? I found the "old" familypedia daunting but the "new" familypedia appears to require a degree in computer programming to use. Unless it is made easier, I'm afraid I no longer want to be a contributor or find it it useful and will probably delete my infomation if I can work out how to do that. yttaiga Yttaiga 14:07, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

I don't know what sort of new templates you are thinking of, or what you mean by "new Familypedia". Our "new" system, based on Semantic MediaWiki, was in place and used in your first edit early last year, as far as I can see. Maybe you mean the more recently restricted version, with which the only way one can use the forms for adding people is to use Firefox 3.

I'm sure most active users are hoping that we can get the forms system fixed. I still use it. Meantime, at least until the box labels can be restored, maybe you could use the "template" at Forum:Data entry without using Form:Person, which is now on the "Create new article" menu.

If your information is accurate, there can be no good reason for deleting any of it (apart from privacy of living persons).

Kind regards. -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 04:43, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
