Sasha Kopf's Celtic knot ring

Haeremai, welcome, talofa, Willkommen, bienvenue, welkom[]

Hello, and welcome to Familypedia, the Genealogy wiki! We volunteers hope you can continue making contributions to articles and/or discussion and other improvements. Probably nobody has yet looked at your first edit. It is live already, but it may soon be reviewed by one of our more experienced editors.

If you are new to Wikia or wikis in general, a visit to Help:ypes of help will be well worth while.

However, all intending contributors, even those experienced with wikis, will get something of value from Help:ypes of help because our "Help" pages are much more than an editing guide.

To start right in creating pages for your ancestors or other people, we strongly urge at least one read of the guidance page so that you get the best setup for easy linking and time-saving.

You could check out the "Community portal" for an outline of some of the main features, links to pages that tell you how to edit, and the link to a guided tour of selected pages that illustrate ways you may enjoy using the site.

A good place to start each visit is the "recent changes" page, where all edits and their authors (anonymous or signed-in) are listed. Bookmark it, maybe. (And help delete spam - unpleasant but a fact of life.)

Please consider adding a "Babel" template to your User page, if you have not already done so, so that others know which languages you are comfortable reading. The site is basically in English but there's no prohibition on other languages. We already have, for example, over 100 kB in Spanish, dozens of pages in French, and a little Russian and Norwegian, with easy ways of linking languages.

If you live in New Zealand, you are invited to add your name to Category:Contributors of New Zealand by adding [[Category:Contributors of New Zealand|{{PAGENAME}}]] to your User page (including the brackets). And if your fortune lies elsewhere, you may create a corresponding category for your country unless there is one already. See Category:Contributors.

Please discuss any aspect of the site, or ask questions, at the Forum or on the "Talk"/discussion page associated with each article. Sign and date your contributions there, so that readers know "who to talk to" and whether your message is probably still of current interest. If you write on a user's "talk" page, that user may get an alerting message on their next visit to any Wikia.

I and others would like to know how you discovered this site.

You seem to be doing nearly everything right. I'm pleased that you've managed to use our person form to create so many pages. I will look at some more of them soon.

Progress[]

I have created Jaquelina Lourdes Cabrera (1979)/tree for your interest. You can create similar subpages easily - see Help:Articles.

In Jaqueline's article, I have changed the province name to the English-language Wikipedia version for better linking. See Mendoza Province/bdm for one of the results.

Kind regards. -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 05:23, September 2, 2017 (UTC)

It is highly desirable to distinguish between city and department names, in the locality and "county" fields of the forms, especially where two cities have the same name. See Maipú, for example. As above, I have used the English-language Wikipedia names for some recent edits. Where you prefer a purely Spanish place-name to appear, it would be sensible to check that it redirects to the Wikipedia name so that every person shows in the right place on a page such as Mendoza, Argentina/bdm.

I notice that you are quite content to have English names for places in Germany. Spanish is understandably more important to you than German.

Keep up the good work! And maybe add a little to your user page. -- Robin Patterson (Talk) 06:02, September 7, 2017 (UTC)

Hugh Capet (940-996)[]

Please don't rename random important pages away from their subpages. I will declare you a vandal and ban you if you persist. Thurstan (talk) 21:13, September 8, 2017 (UTC)

Complete change of identity[]

You created a page about Melisa Hintze:

Birth:
10 July 1980 Ciudad de Mendoza, Provincia de Mendoza, Argentina
Father:
José Rubén Hintze (1950)
Mother:
Milka Ledy Videla (1946)

Her named parents each had articles on this wiki. That page is now a redirect to an apparently totally different woman, who has no parents, partners, or children with their own articles.

What happened to Melisa?

Robin Patterson (Talk) 02:58, February 6, 2018 (UTC)

Tamara Melisa Hintze (1980) may give a clue. But the parents' pages were also redirected meaninglessly and later deleted. ----- Robin Patterson (Talk) 04:14, February 27, 2021 (UTC)
