Quoted from the email that announces the LostCousins newsletter, which is totally free and gives several handy tips two or three times a month. Check the website - https://lostcousins.com - where I have found "cousins" and started profitable correspondence.
I tried ancestry.co.uk; their "free" was qualified thus:
- "*Free access ends 5 Apr 2021 at 11:59 p.m. To view these records you will need to register for free with Ancestry.co.uk with your name and email address. We will then send you a username and password to access the records. After the free access period ends, you will only be able to view the records in the featured collections using an Ancestry.co.uk paid membership.".
I was already registered, with my current email address and longstanding user name from the parent site. The search results I got from family trees looked like what any unregistered searcher would get. Example:
Anna Maria Wood found in 74 trees Anna Maria Wood from tree Campbell & Susans Record information. Birth 1802 Marriage dd mm year city, Tasmania, Australia Death date date year city, Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand Record information. However, results from records were fairly complete, e.g.:
London, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 Birth, Baptism & Christening View Image Record information. Name Anna Maria Wood Baptism 24 May 1802 Middlesex, England Westminster, London, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1558-1812 Birth, Baptism & Christening View Image Record information. Name Anna Maria Wood Birth Abt 1802 Baptism 24 May 1802 London, England
And I viewed the baptism image: clear names and parents and birth date: Anna Maria Wood (1802-1853).
