Tippah County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2000, the population was 20,826. Its county seat is Ripley⁶. Tippah County is named for Tippah, wife of Pontotoc, an important Chickasaw leader.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,191 km² (460 sq mi). 1,186 km² (458 sq mi) of it is land and 5 km² (2 sq mi) of it (0.45%) is water.

The racial makeup of the county was 81.85% White, 15.92% Black or African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.29% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 2.08% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
