Theresa Oaten was born 1836 in Taunton, Somerset, England, United Kingdom to Frederick Oaten (1813-1888) and Dinah Bradbeer (1811-1888) and died 1918 Bristol, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. She married Thomas Joint (c1834-1911) 1858 in St.Judes Parish Church, Bristol, England, United Kingdom.
On the day of the 1881 census Theresa, who worked as a `monthly nurse' (midwife) was staying with Mr and Mrs Archibald Andrews, an African trader, of 41 Redland Road, Westbury on Trym, Bristol. The Andrew's had a one month old son called Gerald and it is likely that Theresa was employed to look after him.
And her daughter, also called Theresa, on the same day of the 1881 census was staying at her uncle and aunt, Robert and Elizabeth Joint; cousins who had married and owned the chemist shop at Chulmleigh, Devon.
