Robin,
I have pictures of Margaret Forlong-Gordon. - wedding picture, as a young girl, as a young woman, with her children, grave site.
I believe her wedding shoes are in our local museum - the Royal BC Museum. Apparently she wore a size one shoe and could run like the wind.
She died from an acute appendicitis attack shortly after going to London to attend Queen a Victoria’s death. Ada Bridger Dobbie (one of Herbert’s sister’s) had married Albert Carless who was a well known physician and surgeon in London.... The family was unable to telegraph Uncle Albert as it was the weekend. It was too late by Monday and she died on February 11. Margaret was buried at St. Peter’s cemetery, Budleigh Salterton. Maggie’s mother, Grannie Gordon (Nee Jessie Georgina Ross Forlong-Gordon) took over the task of looking after the children until Herbert married Miss Aimee Pauline Coke. My grandfather and his brothers were placed in boarding school. My grandfather was only 9 when he was sent away to school.
I have a picture of Grannie Gordon.
