Robert de Welles was born 1484 in Stourton, Warwickshire, England to John de Welles (1450-1499) undocumented and Cecily of York (1469-1507) undocumented and died 30 August 1562 Stourton, Warwickshire, England of unspecified causes.

Robert Welles was the only child to survive to adulthood of the marriage between Princess Cecily, daughter of Edward IV of England and her husband, the 1st Viscounte Welles.

  • I would like to suggest that Robert's parents were Cecily of York and Thomas Kyme, her great love. I have no evidence of this whatsoever, but it makes sense, and Cecily and Thomas did marry after John's death. It also might explain why Robert named a son Thomas.
