Obituary

ROBERT MITCHELL.

Robert Mitchell, whose wife predeceased him by a week, passed away in the Richmond Hospital on Sunday at the age of 77 years. Both the deceased and his late wife were patients in the institution, and each succumbed to bronchial pneumonia. The subject of this notice was a well-known drover in the early days, being known throughout the length and breadth of the Northern roads by every one using them. He was a man of sterling character, and had many staunch friends in this district who deeply deplore his demise. He was a great man with bullock teams, and 23 years ago he re-formed the main street of Richmond with his team, which work stood the heavy traffic until it was recently repaired by the late Mr. Rogers. Deceased was married at Maitland to a Miss Lindores, and afterwards returned to the Kurrajong district to live, where they reared a large family of 13 children, 12 of whom are living. The names of the children appeared in an obituary notice of the deceased's wife, published in our last issue. The funeral took place on Monday, the remains being laid to rest in the Church of England cemetery, North Richmond. Rev. H. Tate conducted the service, and Mr. A. Price was the undertaker.
