Biography

Robert Crow was born 22 June 1794 in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee, United States to Benjamin Walter Crow (1758-1832) and Ann Gragg (1758-1835) and died 29 May 1876 Long Valley, Lassen County, California, United States of unspecified causes. He married Elizabeth Brown (1795-1870) 1818 .

Mississippi Saints 1846 Pioneer Company

Numbered amoung the participants in the Mississippi Saints 1846 Pioneer Company, a early Mormon pioneer wagon train that left Mississippi in 1846 to join the Mormon exodus to Utah. This group Brigham Young's vanguard company and spent the winter of 1846/47 at Fort Pueblo where the were joined by soldiers of the sick detachment of the Mormon Battalion. They reached Salt Lake City in late summer of 1847.

Robert and his Family marched with six wagons, eleven men and six women (Robert’s wife and daughters) and joined the company at Independence, Missouri after coming directly from their long-time home in Perry County, Illinois. Continued west to Salt Lake City arriving there with Brigham Young (1801-1877) on 24 July 1847. He was 2nd Counselor in Mississippi Saints Company leadership. Eventually this family went to California for Robert led a company from their back to Utah in 1857.

"[4 June 1847 at Fort Laramie] About 11:30 Brother Crow's company came and joined the second division [of Brigham Young's Vanguard Company]...I will give the names of Brother Crow's company. They are as follows: Robert Crow, Elizabeth Crow, Benjamin Crow, Harriet Crow, John McHenry Crow, Walter H. Crow, William Parker Crow, Isa [Ira] Venda Exene Crow, Ira Minda Almerene Crow, George W. Therlkill. Matilda Jane Therlkill, James William Therlkill, Milton Howard Therlkill, Archibald Little, James Chesney and Lewis B. Myers, seventeen in number, making 161 souls in the Pioneer company, deducting the four that have gone to Pueblo. J. B. Myers is represented as knowing the country to the mountains, having traveled it before. They have five wagons, one cart, eleven horses, twenty-four oxen, twenty-two cows, three bulls and seven calves. The number of animals in the camp are ninety-six horses, fifty-one mules, ninety oxen, forty-three cows, nine calves, three bulls, sixteen chickens, sixteen dogs, seventy-nine wagons and one cart. Robert Crow 1857 Pioneer Company

Numbered amoung the participants in the Mississippi Saints 1846 Pioneer Company, a early Mormon pioneer wagon train. This small company of 26 people and 7 wagons departed from San Bernardino, California, en route to Utah. They crossed the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas via the California-Salt Lake Road. The company disbanded at Santa Clara, Utah, with some of the party continuing further north.
