Raaj was born on 28 March 1995 in Rajapur, Uttar Pradesh, a small town and tehsil in Chitrakoot District, in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh state of India, into a Vishwakarma Hindu family. His birth name is Chandra Shekhar. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Indrade Tripathi degree College, affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. He knows Three Language Hindi, Bundeli (Bundelkhandi) and English. In 2012, he changed the spelling of his first name from "Raj" to "Raaj"; he said he liked the sound of the extra "a" in his name. Now He is working as a social worker.
