Phoebe Lodema Merrill was born 5 August 1832 in Elba, Genesee County, New York to Samuel Merrill (1780-1878) and Phoebe Odell (1788-1862) and died 18 January 1909 in Parker, Fremont County, Idaho of unspecified causes. She married Clark Stillman (1827-1867) 1846 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She married Parmino Adams Jackman (1822-1860) 16 October 1851 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.
Phoebe Merrill marched west as a nurse with The Mormon Battalion in 1846-47 with her brother Philemon and Sister Albina. They went with the Sick Detachment to Pueblo CO where her sister gave birth.

Her 2nd husband, Parmenio Jackman ran a successful wagon freighting company in Southern California in the late 1850's until they were ambushed and killed by indians.
After the death of her husband, Phoebe Lodema Merrill Jackman married Sylvenus Collett.
Upon Sylvenus' death she married William Thompson. She, at some time, moved to Rexburg, Idaho and died there on January 18, 1909, and is buried in the Rexburg, Idaho cemetery with her husband, William Thompson.
