The following may be unreliable. One of our relatives has Phineas m. Lois Putnam(?) see Katie's Surnames website. -no date on this. - curious thing Phineas and Lois supposedly born on the same day (19 April 1724- sure sign of geneology error here) In any event Phineas has a son Levi m. Hannah Allen 25 May 1790. From here on I'm pretty sure it's accurate. They had Levi, Jr. (b 1800/01. died 8 Oct 1875. W. Wardsboro Vt. Levi Jr. m. Phoebe Prouty 24 Mar 1829 They had Erwin Putnam (my great-grandfather) b.24 April 1843; d. 1907. Erwin Putnam was married 2 times. m. Emogene Torrey 25 Aug 1868 They has a son-William b. 7 Jul 1869. She died 31 Oct. 1875 Erwin then married her sister Abbey Torrey 25 Oct. 1876. They had 5 children Merle, Guy, Ethel, Pauline and Shirley (my grandmother) Both then died within four days of each other of pneumonia winter 1907. There is a very complete write-up on the Putnam's in Vermont in the book. Return to Yesterday, written by Grandma's cousin Edith's husband C.S. Streeter. I'm not sure about its availability.
