Orrin Orlando Barrus was born 29 May 1870 in Grantsville, Tooele County, Utah, United States to Benjamin Franklin Barrus (1838-1921) and Lovina Ann Steele (1844-1925) and died 6 October 1958 in Logan, Cache County, Utah, United States of unspecified causes. He married Mary Elizabeth Clark (1873-1961) 3 February 1897 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Fairview Pioneer Dies at Logan
Funeral services were held on Thursday in the Logan LDS Eleventh Ward for Orlando Barrus, 88, former Star Valley resident and pioneer who died Monday at his home.
He was born to Benjamin F. and LaVina Steele Barrus. He married Mamie Clark in the Salt Lake Temple Feb 3, 1897. An early day pioneer in the valley, he was a rancher, school teacher and church worker. He was a temple officiator in Logan for 32 years, and prior to that had served as bishop of the Fairview Ward. He was a high priest at the time of his death. he filled a mission to the Southern States. He is survived by his widow, and six of the nine children born to their union; son Thayer C. Salt Lake City; daughters Mrs Lawrence (Leone) Weber; Mrs Herbert (Ruth) Stayner, and Mrs Lynn J. (Merle) Olsen, all of Logan; Mrs J. Reed (Zina) Lance Moab; Mrs Joseph (Lera) Merritt, Thayne; 47 grandchildren 34 great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held here Thursday afternoon Oct 9 for Orlando Barrus who died at his home in Logan Oct 6. He and his family were former Fairview residents. He and his wife have been very active in temple and genealogical work since they moved to Logan about 35 years ago. Lunch was served to members of the family at the church house by the Relief Society following the services.
