Michael Anthony Hince (1947) was born 1947 in Melbourne, Australia to Herbert Thomas Hince (1900-1980) .





Michael Anthony Hince - Wine writer; historian and broadcaster.

Son of Herbert Thomas Hince 1900 - 1980; grandson of Frederick Marmaduke Hince b1870 - ; great grandson of Frederick Stamp Hince 1839 - 1901, who was a Wine & Spirit Merchant in London.

Michael Hince is a former editor of The Epicurean magazine – Epicurean was the first Australian magazine devoted entirely to food and wine and had a considerable influence on later food and wine writing. It was published from May 1966 to 1993 and was noted for its wonderfully quirky front covers. He was also a restaurant and wine reviewer and contributor to the Age, The Age Good Food Guide, the Weekly Times, Business Review Weekly and the Herald Sun. He has edited a number of wine trade magazines, including the Wine and Spirit Review, and still contributes to a range of publications including Winestate magazine; The Melbourne Review and Alquimie. Michael also conducts wine appreciation classes. He is passionate about wine and food and brings a wealth of knowledge to a national audience on 1179 AM Vision Australia Radio Melbourne every with “Heard it through the Grapevine" – every Saturday at 8.00 pm
