Malinda Kelley was born 16 October 1815 in Bracken County, Kentucky to Isaac M. Allison (1779-1845) and Jane Hunt (1782-1831) and died 18 November 1881 in Circleville, Piute County, Utah Territory of unspecified causes. She married Milton Kelley (1807-1846) 10 January 1836 in Albion, Edwards County, Illinois. She married Robert Dockery Covington (1815-1902) 28 September 1848 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. Ancestors are from the United States.

Malinda Allison Kelley joined her husband with Company A of the Soldiers of the Mormon Battalion. Her husband died with the Sick Detachment in Nov 1846, and then in Feb 1847 she gave birth to their daughter at the Sick Detachment campsite in Pueblo Colorado.

It appears that both her and her husband were distant cousins to Jefferson Hunt (1803-1879), captain of Company A.
