Konstantin Dmitriyevich, Prince of Uglich, was born 14 May 1399 to Dmitri Ivanovich Donskoy (1350-1389) and Yevdokiya Dmitriyevna (1352-1407) and died 1433 of unspecified causes.
Konstantin Dmitriyevich is the youngest (eighth) son of Dmitry Donskoy. He was born on May 14, 1389 (five days before the death of his father, which happened on May 19). According to his father's will, in case a son was born, his brothers had to allocate him small parts of their heritage. The fate of Konstantin changed many times as a result of redistribution of the wealth between brothers, until, finally, the Principality of Uglich was established for him .
In 1406 the Grand Prince of Moscow Vasili Dmitriyevich sent him to Pskov at the request of the inhabitants of the principality; the chronicler notes that though Prince Konstantin was young, he was "perfect with the mind". His military expeditions at the head of Pskov armed forces against the Teutonic Order were quite successful. In 1408 he was sent as governor to Veliky Novgorod. In 1411, the inhabitants of Pskov expelled their former governor, Prince Aleksandr Fyodorovich, and asked Konstantin to return; he was simultaneously governor of both Veliky Novgorod and Pskov. In 1414 he left for Moscow.
In 1419, he quarreled with his older brother, the Grand Prince of Moscow, who wanted him to renounce to his heritage in favour of his son Vasili Vasilyevich; Konstantin did not want to obey and left in 1420 for Nizhny Novgorod, where he was received with honor. Vasili deprived him of his lot, he was arrested by the boyars , and he wrote the villages and property to his treasury.
In 1421 the brothers reconciled and Konstantin, reinstated in Nizhny Novgorod, returned to Moscow. After Vasili Dmitriyevich's death Konstantin supported his son, Vasili Vasilyevich, in the fight against his uncle (Konstantin's brother) Yuri Dmitriyevich . In 1425, he pursued Yuri to the Sura River, and in 1429 went on a campaign against the Tatars and devastated the banks of the Volga River .
He died at the end of 1433 or at the beginning of 1434, taking the vows in the Simonov Monastery with the name of Cassian. He did not leave any offspring.
