Keith Holyoake was born 11 February 1904 in Scarborough, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand to Henry Victor Holyoake (1875-1954) and Esther Eves (1873-1954) and died 8 December 1983 Wellington, Wellington Region, New Zealand (Wellington Hospital, Wellington, New Zealand) of unspecified causes. He married Norma Janet Ingram (c1904-) 24 September 1934 in Wellington, Wellington Region, New Zealand.
"Kiwi Keith" was a farmer in both the North Island and the South Island before becoming the first 20th-century-born Governor-General of New Zealand and so far the only Governor-General to have been also Prime Minister of New Zealand. When he entered Parliament in a by-election he was the baby of the House; when he left he was the father of the House.
