Biography
Joseph Bowden was born 17 September 1815 in Benenden, Kent, England, United Kingdom to William Bowden (1774-1833) and Elizabeth Young (1775-1841) and died 20 October 1885 Carlton, Victoria, Australia of chronic bronchitis, exhaustion. He married Jessie Maxwell (1831-1910) 15 July 1853 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
He left Gravesend, Kent 24 June 1838, arrived Sydney, New South Wales 6 November 1838 on the Maitland, with his brother William and William's family as assisted immigrants.
