John Rowland Cafe was born 19 July 1875 in Wollombi, New South Wales, Australia to Thomas Cafe (1845-1885) and Maria Jane Merrick (1855-1947) and died 16 May 1918 Dangar Cottage Hospital, Singleton, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes.

Two well-known and highly respected residents of the Singleton district passed away here on Thursday, one being Mr Thomas Ellis Hobden, of Great Lodge, Jerry's Plains, and the other Mr John Roland Cafe, of Putty.
The late Mr John Cafe, who was only 43 years of age, died after a painful illness of six weeks in the Dangar Cottage Hospital. He was a well-known grazier, and resided at Putty. Deceased was a son of the late Mr Thomas Cafe and was born at Dural. He leaves a widow and a son aged 9 years. The mother of deceased is now Mrs. Edward Medhurst, of Howe's Valley. His brothers are Mr Leo Cafe, of Bourke-street, Constable T. Cafe, of Foster, and Mr Victor Cafe, Richmond River, and Mrs J. Medhurst, of Putty, is a sister.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, leaving the residence of his uncle, Mr Laycock, Kelso, for All Saints' Church, and thence proceeded to Whittingham Church of England cemetery.
