OVERVIEW[]

From Houston, 1882:120:

He was nine years of age when he came with his father from Ireland to America, in the year 1735....He married Sarah Todd (?-1795), and they had four sons and three daughters
1. James Houston
2. John Houston
3. Samuel Houston, (Rev)
4. William Houston
5. Robert Houston
6. Matthew Houston
7. Alice Houston
8. Margaret Houston
9. Esther Houston
John Houston settled on Hays Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA, about one mile from Brownsburg, and owned the farm now known as the ""McBridge farm"...A portion of it is still in possession of one of his descendants. He was born about the year 1716, in Ireland, and died in 1798, in Logan County, KY., and was buried at a church on Whippoorwill Creek, probably the one now known as the "Red River Meeting House". He died when on a visit to his son Robert Houston, who lived in Logan County, and was one of the number carried away by the "Shaker Heresy."

Sarah (Todd) Houston died in Blount County, Tenn, and was buried in Maryville in 1795.

Since Sarah died in Blount County in 1795, and John died three years later in Logan County Kentucky while "on a visit to his son Robert Houston", it seems likely that John moved with his family to Blount County in the early 1790's.
