It is not certain at this stage, but Jeffrey Ruffle may have been baptised in Newton By Sudbury, Suffolk on 22nd March 1685. This needs to be confirmed before his parents are named.

Marriage[]

Jeffrey married Ann Golding in Cavendish, Suffolk on 24th August 1710. Ann was the daughter of William Golding and possibly Sarah Francis.

Jeffrey and Ann had 7 known children baptised in Newton by Sudbury in Suffolk, and a final child baptised in Wickham St. Paul in Essex.

Death of Wife[]

Wife Ann died between the years of 1726 and 1730. Her cause of death and place of burial are unknown. Jeffrey would have been approximately 43 years old at the time of her death.

Second Marriage[]

Jeffrey married again circa 1730 to a widow by the name of Margaret Newman.

Death[]

Jeffrey died on 6th February 1763 and was buried at Wickham St. Paul in Essex. He was approximately 78 years old.

Jeffery left a will which identified his three sons Jeffrey, Richard and Francis. An excerpt of the will follows: I give and devise after my said Wifes decease to my Grandson Jeffery Ruffle Son of my Son Richard Ruffle and to his Heirs all that my Messuage or Tenement called Cross House with the Yards Gardens Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and being in Wickham Saint Paul aforesaid in the occupation of John Percival Mary Wise and John Chaplyn

Son Richard was also left 200 pounds plus a share in residuals.
