Jaras' parents Brek and Thidawan were unmarried when Jaras was born, and did not ultimately marry. During the 1990s, Thidawan went to work in Bangkok, while her sister Chonticha Ruasamran (c1955-) and mother Chuen (Yuklai) Ruasamran cared for Jaras in Ban Dong Pahyom, Thailand.

On June 30, 2000, Jaras' mother Thidawan married Kevin Borland. The ceremony took place January 3, 2001 in Ban Dong Phayom.
Immigration to the United States[]
Jaras came to the United States in March, 2002, with his mother Thidawan Ruasamran (1974-) and his step-father Kevin Borland (1975-). Upon arrival, the family resided in Scenic Lakes, New Jersey for several months, prior to moving to Arlington, Virginia.
