In the 1881 Census, James Poulton Baglin (c1835-1912) with his two youngest surviving sons, Daniel Baglin (c1866-1939) and John Baglin (born about 1869), were staying with his father, Daniel Baglin (c1813-1883), at Lower Soundwell, Bitton, Oldland, Bristol; James and his father were both listed as widowers.
At that census his other two children, Ann Sophie Baglin and James Edward Baglin (both born about 1863), were staying with his deceased wife’s father, John Lovell, both working for him as Market Gardener Labourers.

They were previously from Uley, Gloucestershire, but after the crash of the cloth mill industry in Uley, which crippled many landowners due to the high rates imposed by the local parish council to pay poor relief, they uprooted and moved first to North Common, near Warmley, Bristol. After settling in North Common, Daniel Baglin set-up the 111-acre farm in Staple Hill, Bristol, with his elder son (James Poulton Baglin). In the 1960's, when the land where the farm once stood was developed for residential housing, one of the Roads was named `Baglyn Avenue'.
