James Morrow was born 3 January 1795 in Ireland to Patrick Morrow (bef1795-) and Bridget McCarty (bef1795-) and died 12 June 1881 Waterbury, Vermont, United States of unspecified causes. He married Katherine McNulty (1802-1894) 1834 in Ireland.
Biography
Regarding the date of James Morrow's birth, his death certificate indicates that he was 98 yrs 5 months 10 days at death. This works out to a DOB of Friday, January 3, 1783. The age based on the death certificate is reasonably consistent with his age in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census records for Washington Co VT, (75, 85. 96, respectively), but highly inconsistent with his ages in the 1840 and 1850 census (c45, and 55). This looks very much like "age creep" and that at death, James was being presented as ten years older than he actually was. It seems likely that the year of his birth was actually c1795, but that the day and month of birth is accurately reflected in the death certificate.
James Morrow and Katherine McNulty were married in Ireland about 1834. Based on the ages and places of birth of their children they probably emigrated to America about 1836, settling first in Moretown, then in Waterbury, Washington Co, Vermont. They had two sons, and as many as six daughters, though the names of only two are known to have survived and married.
