|Raymond Terrace James Buckman (1894-1966)|
Died at his son's residence, Ryde, on June 22, Mr. James Buckman, aged 76 years. Deceased was very well known in the Raymond Terrace district where he carried on a sawmill about 25 years ago on the river bank in Peter Dron-street. In those days he had the contending factors of low prices and wet years to contend with and though timber then sold at 12/6 100 feet there was little demand, so that Mr. Buckman decided to remove to the Mudgee district, which he did, and for some years carried on a mixed business of farming and timber cutting. He eventually with increasing years gave up this occupation, and retired, and at the time of his death from pneumonia, was living with his son at Ryde. Deceased was held in high esteem as a straight forward man and his death will be regretted by many friends in the district. He leaves a widow and eight of a family, three sons and five daughters. Mr. Jesse Buckman, of Gloucester is a brother.
