Jacob Bake was born 17 July 1773 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States to John Richard Bake (1748-1838) and Eleanor Slacht (?-1835) and died 3 October 1849 Union Township, Union County, Indiana, United States of unspecified causes. He married Catherine Reppert (1779-1851) 1795 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States.
Jacob Bake removed to Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and then to western Ohio in the fall of 1805. On November 10, 1806 he entered land on Indian Creek in Union Township, Union County, Indiana where he erected and ran an oil and grist mill. He served in the War of 1812.Jacob and Catherine Bake of Franklin County, Indiana purchased land jointly on November 26, 1814.
