Sergeant Irwin Lester Eggins, officer in charge of the Caboolture Police Station, who had been in poor health of late, collapsed and died on Friday last. He was born on the Clarence River (N.S.W.) 51 years ago, and joined the Queensland Police Force at Roma Street. He served at Cairns, Cooktown, Cribb Island, in the Brisbane Water Police, Tewantin, Ipswich, Booval, Warwick and Toowoomba, and also as relieving officer at Oakey, Chinchilla, and Texas. The late Sergeant Eggins married a sister of Inspector N. G. Clark, of the Valley, Brisbane, who survives him, also four sons and two daughters. Deceased is a relative of Mr. W. English, of Howard Street, Nambour.
