Biography

Henry Jacob Faust was born 18 June 1834 in Hertzheim, Prussia to Heinrich Wilhelm Faust (1795-1839) and Christina Weber (1799-1873) and died 4 December 1904 Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, United States of unspecified causes. He married Elsie Ann Akerley (1842-1883) 12 October 1856 in Fillmore, Millard County, Utah, United States.

Faust Station

After migrating to America, Henry settled on a remote Pony Express stop in Rush Valley which became known as Faust Station. In early 1861 it was the site of a shootout between outlaw Lot Elisha Huntington (1834-1862) and famous Mormon lawman Porter Rockwell.

The community was founded by Henry J. Faust (born Heinrich Jacob Faust), a Mormon immigrant from Germany. In 1860 he managed Faust Station on the Pony Express trail. He later bought the property for his ranch.[3] In 1870 Henry Faust and his wife moved to Salt Lake City. Faust has been used by the Union Pacific Railroad to house workers on the site. The area is popular with campers, mountain bikers, off-road vehicle enthusiasts, and hikers during the summer months. Henry J. Faust was an ancestor of James E. Faust.
