Altoona Mirror, 7 May 1907:
"George Rhodes died yesterday morning on the anniversary of his birth at his home near Three Culverts. Deceased was born on May 6, 1824 and had passed many years of his life in the vicinity of this city. He was for a number of years employed by the Pennsylvania railroad company and his last position was that of a switchman at Seventeenth street. He was retired several years ago. He served three months int eh army during the war. He is survived by his wife, one son, Albert, of this city, one brother, Brice Rhodes of Livermore, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Shade of Leamersville, Pa. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the house. Interment will be made in Dilford (sic) cemetery."
