Death of Mr. G. Sutherland.—On Tuesday morning Mr. George Sutherland breathed his last in Tamworth. Quite recently, owing to failing health, he sold his property near Walcha Road, intending to travel, with his wife and family, and seek a change. But consumption had then taken hold of him, and he got very little beyond Tamworth when he had to return an invalid, and speedily wasted away, despite every medical attention. Mr. Sutherland was 50 years of age, a well known and highly respected resident, a good stamp of sheep farmer and neighbor, and a kind husband and parent. The remains were brought to Walcha and interred in the Presbyterian cemetery, Rev. J. T. Thorburn officiating. The local Odd fellows joined in the burial service.
Mr. Sutherland was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, and came out with his parents when but a child. He has left a widow and four children, fortunately provided for. An insurance policy for £300, at the age of 50 years, became payable a week before his death, Mr. Sutherland has left two brothers and two sisters, Mr. W. Sutherland, of Walcha, Mr. D. Sutherland, of Ashford, Mrs J. Smith, of Niangala, and Mrs Tickle, Quipolly.
