George Cathcart was born 12 May 1794 in Renfrewshire, Scotland, United Kingdom to William Schaw Cathcart, 1st Earl Cathcart (1755-1843) and Elizabeth Elliot (c1759-1847) and died 5 November 1854 Battle of Inkerman of unspecified causes. He married Georgiana Greville (1798-1871) 12 May 1824 .
