The extant documents recording the existence of Francisca Pelagio are the registry of marriages of her children with Aquilino Brillantes y Juanico in the Canonical Books (from year 1910 to 1935) of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Parish in Banate, Iloilo in the Philippines. In these records, her name appears together with that of her husband. At least the matrimonial records of their children listed below, are still legible in these documents:

2. The burial record of Toribio Pelagio, Francisca's brother, which is registered in the Canonical Books of the Roman Catholic Parish in Banate, dated 30 December 1928, identifies Pedro Palagio and Concepcion Villaruel as their parents.

Service to the Catholic Faithful[]

Little is known about Francisca Pelagio. However, oral tradition coming from narratives of her descendants recalls her service to the Catholic faithful in Banate as the person called for to pray with the dying, in order to assist them in professing faith in salvation through Jesus Christ. She was known in the local community as Tagapa-Hesus.
