Francis French Jago was born 13 February 1842 in St Veep, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom to John Jago (1805-1886) and Susannah Wills (c1806-1888) and died 22 February 1917 Branxholm, Tasmania, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Louisa Coltman (1842-1929) 30 September 1863 in Deloraine, Tasmania, Australia.

He arrived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 6 June 1849 on the British Empire with his parents as a free settler.

Obituary

A well-known and highly-respected resident of Branxholm in the person of Mr. Francis Jago died on Thursday. Deceased was born in Cornwall, England, and came out to Tasmania with his parents at the early age of seven years. He was a colonist of some 68 years' standing. He was engaged in farming pursuits in the Deloraine district for many years, and 55 years ago went to Branxholm and followed farming until a fews years ago, when advancing years and declining health caused him to give it up. The late Mr. Jago had a family of 10 girls and four boys, of whom 10 girls and two boys survive. The funeral took place on Saturday, and a large number of people followed the remains to their last resting piece. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. McDonald.
