Biography

Frances COLE (LCTP-D5J) married George Potter (1618-1640) (LWL3-9GV), 1648 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. George died a suspicious death about two years later, and an inquiry was held. They only had enough time to have one son, Abel. Francis remarried to Nicholas NYLE or NILES. When Frances died about 1645, Abel's step-father placed him with William Baulstone for 18 years---he was not bound or apprenticed. William and his wife, Elizabeth, were Abel's aunt and uncle. Abel would have been about age six or seven. There is no mention of any other children for Frances and George, and arrangements were only made for one child, Abel. No children are on record for Frances and Niles.

Research Notes

Unknown Parentage

There seems to be a lot of confusion between this Francis Cole and another one that married to Richard Thornhill. Waiting for proof of relationship to parents.
