Hello all,

I believe I posted something here many, many (or at least several) months ago. I didn't see any place that had an option of view my posts. Can something like that be added to the forum? I'm not sure when I would have posted my forum topic. So, I don't know how to find it. I could keep going back to earlier and earlier posts until my post shows up, but that is difficult as it is too easy to overlook and not notice a posting when one is scrolling back through page after page.

Is there a way to get email updates, also, when someone responds to my post?

When I leave a message on someone's talk page, I often "watch" the page so that I would be notified if they reply. You could do the same thing for your forum posts. Thurstan 20:26, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

To get such email, you need to have the right settings in your Preferences. I think those ones are near the bottom of the first screen of preferences, headed "User profile". Robin Patterson (Talk to me) 11:10, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

However, for past postings that you were not watching, as covered in your first question, it's not so easy. In view of your saying "I didn't see any place that had an option of view my posts", I wonder whether you have found your list of "Contributions" - the fourth of five tabs at the top of your user page and talk page etc. It can be filtered by date and/or namespace, which should narrow things down enough if you haven't been too prolific!!

If you can remember a distinctive word or phrase from what you think you wrote, try a wiki search. Sometimes the search works very well. (Staff are aware that it's not perfect.) Robin Patterson (Talk to me) 11:10, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

Finally, when you get firmly into the habit of signing messages with ~~~~ (or using the one-click button above the edit box), people will be able to get easily to your talk page in any case where that might be more use than replying under your post. It also reduces ambiguity; we have more than one fairly active "Bruce" here, for example.
