Forums: Index > Watercooler > See Also vs Also See

Should we use "See also" or "Also see"? Or is either okay?

My personal "pet peeve" is that we don't want people to see "also", we would like them to also see; but I know that WP is pretty set in stone to see also. I will bend to consensus, if there is one.

Again, this question has already been answered by Robin in this comment: "See also" is the Wikia and Wikipedia standard; using it helps make contributors feel at home.
Sorry (again) for wasting people's time. I posted this query before seeing Recent Changes. Zephyrinus 12:16, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it's not just "standard" - it's syntax. Adopting the convention that an adverb (eg "also") ideally precedes its "object" as closely as convenient, we have:
"See also..." means you guys have been seeing what's on this page (if you've seen this heading!) but now we invite you to see also the following
"Also see..." means you guys have spent quite long enough feeling and tasting and smelling and hearing but now we suggest that you also see...
