Sorry, I made a mistake and don't know how to fix it...

I had red links to 'Minneapolis, Minnesota' on several of my pages, so I created a new page. When I was trying to clean it up I noticed that a 'Minneapolis' page had already been created. I have gotten into the habit of including the state behind any city I create. There is a Minneapolis, Kansas so I think Minneapolis, Minnesota should be the correct title.

I tried to move the page, but it won't let me...

What should I do next? Lanica 01:03, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

Another mistake that looks like yours but may be partly someone else's. "Minneapolis, Minnesota" is the Wikipedia standard for cities in the United States, but it has exceptions, many of them bitterly argued over. You should check what the Wikipedia name is, because some of us believe that we should match Wikipedia exactly wherever practicable. Accept that as the proper page, add to it any useful-looking material from the other one, then turn the other one into a redirect (using the quick link for that below the edit box). If one looks like a copy of a Wikipedia page but doesn't match the current WP name, don't try to move anything except its categories and anything else easy, but leave its text below the "redirect" in case some of us want to use some more. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 14:26, June 13, 2010 (UTC)
