Demo inquiry I would like to locate a marriage record for this couple as well as any references from Clay or Smith families to either of them in Greene Co., Ohio. I realize I am asking a lot, but they are my brick walls in researching my Clay side. His full name was James Mastin/Maston Clay, although he went by his middle name. They relocated to IL in 1850. There were 5 known children from this union; John Henry, Charles W., Samuel W., George Ambrose and Mary. Children were born between 10/21/1840 and 10/1850. The 1840 census lists a James Clay in the same age range, 30-40, with no Township along with a William Clay on the same image page who could be the father. On the 1840 census M.Clay was recorded in Caesar's Creek Township which is listed as John Henry's birthplace in his obit. Any assistance with this family would be most appreciated.
