Calling all writers- it might be fun to put out a newsletter to introduce everyone to everyone else, put out the word on various projects, etc. So in a never ending quest to rip off learn from every single good idea from our brothers at Wikipedia, I present to you The Familypedia Times, issue 1

I put some article suggestions in there but feel free to be the editor. It might be nice to do a profile piece on one or two contributors each month. Maybe this would be a quarterly rather than monthly. OTOH, we may have a lot of news in the coming month. -~ Phlox 21:54, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

The blog feature coming online next week allows a sidebar that also can point to a blogspot blog. (Lostpedia does this). We can have something like lostpedia's, so perhaps that would get better distribution that this wiki based familypedia times. We would launch it from the sidebar just like lostpedia, and all admins, would be able to post entries from familypedia contributors. With RSS and nice layout, this seems to be the way to go. I'd like to get ours wide like lostpedia's so our look and feel bears improvement.
Anyway, I have set up Familypedia.blogspot.com in anticipateion of this, and all admin that would like to participate need to email me the email address they want to use to log in as an author there. For those unfamiliar with blogspot, emails need not be public, nor is your real world identity- that is up to you in your settings.
In case anyone is wondering who the 19th century guy I used for the Phlox avatar- it is Charles Brush- an engineer who did significant work pioneering electricity production. No relation- the picture is a quick shorthand of reminding readers that we represent people from a different time. ~ Phlox 23:20, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
