I have tried reading around the site for information on how to use the data from /info pages but have not had any luck seeing information on listing descendants. I did try using several words replacing ahnentafel from the generic person page template but only succeed in getting that person and their spouse listed. Is there a place on this site or elsewhere on how we can program our own mini templates to use the information in the info pages? [[User:Elrondlair|William Allen Shade]] 05:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Help desk > Info pages descendancy list?

I have tried reading around the site for information on how to use the data from /info pages but have not had any luck seeing information on listing descendants. I did try using several words replacing ahnentafel from the generic person page template but only succeed in getting that person and their spouse listed. Is there a place on this site or elsewhere on how we can program our own mini templates to use the information in the info pages? William Allen Shade 05:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Three or four of us were talking about descendancy tables (currently non-existent; your help might be just what we need) in the last week or two. Somewhere on the Watercooler, I expect. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 15:00, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Not seeing anything in the watercooler. Where can I see the for the info pages ahnentafel? Maybe if I can see how that looks I can fool around with it. - William Allen Shade 18:27, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Found the most recent discussion, cleverly concealed in Forum:Standardizing subpages of people pages. I hope people will not do too much of the "program our own mini templates". If you don't keep in touch with what others here are doing, you risk wasting a lot of your time on something that has been done and tested. If your invention turns out to be the best version, you can expect full credit and help with making it even better, if other people know about it soon enough not to have to do their own versions. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 05:24, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
