Forums: Index > Watercooler > Copacetic to Edit User Pages?

I just received notification that my user page was edited by BergSmit. I thought that was odd. I didn't know that someone else could edit my User page. And the thing is, he copied over information from my user page on WeRelate.

a. is it acceptable for someone to edit someone else's USER page here? I'm surprised it's even technically allowable.

b. I am no longer an active user at Wikia and would like to remove my user page, but I'm a bit concerned that someone else could simply "recreate" it.

Please advise. Thanks.

I think some Wikia sites have pages that cannot be edited by any except defined non-admin individuals. This wiki hasn't.
First couple of edits fixed a non-functional link. Quite OK.
The rest was clearly unlicensed copying from another website, which I have reverted.
Technically, your user page was published under the GFDL, and Wikia is entitled to retain it. You're welcome to modify it at any time. Any sysop could then, at your request, protect it so that only sysops could edit it. And one of us could make any changes you thought of later.
I'm pleased you are enjoying WeRelate.

Hi Robin. Thanks for the quick response and for cleaning up (out) the copied material. I decided against removing my User page; I updated it and some of the pages I created; removed a few links, but otherwise figure it's no problem to leave it as is. Good luck to you all over here.
