Fish River is both a river and a place in New South Wales

There are two rivers in New South Wales called the Fish River.
The Fish River rises on the plateau south east of Oberon, New South Wales, and flows generally to the north-west, becoming the main headwater of the Macquarie River just east of Bathurst, New South Wales. There is a reservoir on this river near Oberon which supplies water for the region. The Fish River was given its name by the earliest British explorers of the Bathurst district, because of the large number of fish they found in it, being a rare permanent stream.
The other Fish River is a smaller stream between Gunning, New South Wales and Yass, New South Wales. A railway station and watering point were located where the main southern railway crossed this stream.
Transport[]
Fish River once was a railway station with refuging and watering facilities on the main Southern line. There was a bridge over the Fish River at this point.
