Bigod
The first known member was a Norman knight, Roger Bigod who came to England in 1066 with William the Conqueror. His son, Hugh Bigod (1095-1177), 1st Earl of Norfolk was the first member to be born in England. They were the Earls of Norfolk.
de Ferrers
The first known member was Walkelin de Ferrers who is mentioned in the French village of Ferrieres-Saint-Hilaire in 1040. His son Henry de Ferrers ( -1100) who came over from Normandy with William the Conqueror in 1066. His son Robert de Ferrers (c1068-1139), 1st Earl of Derby was the first member born in England.
Peverel
The first member born about 1080, came from Normandy and is mentioned in the Dooms Day Book.
Quincy
The first member was born about 1170, Earls of Winchester
Wentworth
The Wentworth family came over from Normandy in 1066 with William the Conqueror.

The first known member was John de Grey who was born in Thurrock, Essex, England in about 1140 and married in about 1157. He is probably a second great grandson of Anchetil de Greye (c1100-) who was the grandson of the Baron Anchetil de Greye (c1052-aft1086) mentioned in the Domesday Book. They held the tiles of Baron Grey of Wilton, Baron Grey of Ruthin, Baron Grey of Rotherfield, Earl of Kent, Marquess of Dorset, Duke of Suffolk, Earl of Stamford.
