Elsie Samantha Pulsipher Brown was born 9 September 1837 in Kirtland, Lake County, Ohio to Daniel Pulsipher (1801-1841) and Clarissa Norton (1799-1864) and died 29 April 1877 Draper, Salt Lake County, Utah of unspecified causes. She married Ebenezer Brown (1802-1878) 19 May 1853 in Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Biography

Elsie Samantha Pulsipher Brown was born in Kirtland, Ohio. Her family went with the Latter-day Saints to Missouri where her father died. Her grandmother, mother two brothers, one sister and herself shared the hardships the Saints suffered at that time in Missouri. They were driven out of Nauvoo, as the mob set fire to their home before their eyes. On the trek to the SL Valley her mother dies, and she suffered many hardships in the journey west.

She arrived in Salt Lake sometime in 1851. She moved to Provo in 1853 and became Ebenezer's third wife on may 19th of that year. In the spring of 1856 Ebenezer was called to go to Nevada to help make a new settlement. The mission was soon abandon and they returned to Draper. Elsie did most of the spinning for the whole family besides her household duties. She was a mother of ten children - 5 boys and 5 girls.

Elsie died very suddenly 29 April 1877 while living in Draper. Her daughter Eunice related that she was awakened by her father telling her to get up and take care of her baby brother Elisha, as her mother was very sick. Elsie was gasping for breath and walking from room to room. Then she threw herself on the bed and said, "Goodbye all, I am going to die" and she passed away.
