Elizabeth Ridgely Nicholas (November 10, 1883 - May 29, 1972) was the Dean of Students for Douglass College at Rutgers University.
Biography[]
She was born on November 10, 1883 to Mary Stuart Lawlor and John Stuart Nicholas of New Brunswick, New Jersey. She married Moncure Conway Carpender. She served as the first Registrar-Bursar of the New Jersey College for Women from 1918 to 1921. Later she became the Dean of Students. Nicholas Residence Hall was built in 1960 and named for her.[1]
